HOW TO MANAGE YOUR TIME ?

Sometimes it happens that you have enough time to get things done, but something always comes up and then you fall behind in your study schedule. Perhaps, you find yourself unable to control your time. So what you can do to control how you spend it and better manage your time?

Time management is a choice; therefore make certain that you are spending your time effectively and go along with your study plans. Yes, it is not all that easy, but if you follow these simple tips you will be on your way to being the ultimate manager of your time.

Know how you’re spending your time ?

The key to managing your time well is to understand where your time actually goes. You can track your time for one week and then analyze the results. You can write down on a paper what you did every hour of each day for a week, so you could visualize it.

Plan ahead

On every weekend, take out some time to plan out your week ahead. Write down all what you want to accomplish in every study period. You can break up your study topics into manageable parts to increase your productivity and achieve your study goals. Also, try to study the most challenging topic first when your motivation is high.

Set goals and rewards for yourself

When you get up each morning, set goals for yourself as to what you plan to accomplish that day. Set mini rewards for yourself for that day achievements; say, you have finished revising a difficult chapter, treat yourself.

Avoid distracting study spots

You make sure to study in a distraction-free place and put your phone aside. Set aside specific times for checking your email and social media network- may be, right before or after lunch and at the end of the day. Refrain from checking your phone except during these allocated times. It will help you avoid social media breaks as you no longer can see your notifications- allowing you study effectively.

Use realistic self-talk

Write down your excuse for procrastinating and replace it with a realistic thought- this will force you to think stay up and spend the majority of your time on your studies. You have to decide to work hard for your education.

Keep in mind what’s motivating you

Ultimately, write down what is your biggest motivation. What you want to do? Why you want to do it? How will studying hard for your goals help your future aspirations? Use this to study more.

How to manage time during JEE preparation?

All the JEE Aspirants face a challenge during their preparation and that’s time. Continuing with their daily schedule it really becomes difficult for the aspirants to take out quality time to prepare for the Joint Entrance. Students, as a result tend to exert themselves and often lose track. Keeping on with the spirit and staying focus is the key to success. The possible way to achieve this is to prepare a compact and healthy routine. So, all the students must start their preparation by building a good routine.

There are 6-time management tips which a student need to follow to achieve his goal.

  • Organise
  • Track
  • Prioritize
  • Schedule
  • Review
  • Follow

There lies so many questions in the mind of a student who prepares for JEE – “How much time should I devote for JEE preparation?” “What is an ideal routine that needs to be followed?” “Should I take break?”  and many more. In addition to this, students start measuring time while preparing for JEE. Measuring preparation in terms of numbers is a wrong strategy. A student devoting 12 hours of his time in preparing for JEE can score less than a student preparing for 6-hour time. So, the number really doesn’t matter, it’s the quality which matters the most in a synchronized way.

A balanced routine with a constant good focus can create wonders. Amount of time and duration or the phase of the day doesn’t matter. One can be more flexible studying during the day whereas one can study at night. But, one must make sure that he sleeps for at least 6 hours. The sleeping time has to be included in the routine for the preparation.

A student preparing for JEE first needs to build a quality routine which includes all the activities, i.e.  studying, refreshment & sleeping. He must set up his educational routine in such a way that it includes every subject within a short span. The difficulty level should also be taken into consideration. One should not jump directly into solving hard questions which leads to breakdown of self- confidence. The difficulty level should be increased gradually from low to medium to high. It can become monotonous for a student to study constantly. There lies the advantage or the usefulness of the break time. A student can adjust his time in such a way that when he feels exhausted he can take a break for breakfast, lunch or even for other refreshments.

A student must not indulge himself only to book study;he must also go through various study materials. At Matrix Academy, we provide quality material to the students which help them during their preparation. We provide the students comprehensive study material which contains Daily practice problems, Chapter wise Exercise sheets, Theory notes and key concepts and Question Bank. All these enhances the students’ knowledge to a great extent. Moreover, it helps in building a proper knowledge of the upcoming examination with a good grasp of some tough questions.

It might happen that the student misunderstands that refreshment is referred to as playing video games or watching television. This is absolutely not the case. One should not waste time watching television or playing games because this causes a distraction and as a result one cannot concentrate.

A good routine is that where one studies for 2 to 2.5 hours at a stretch and takes a break for 15mins. The students are given complete freedom to build the routine of their choice which will provide them the best results. This is done under the guidance of our renowned faculty.

We wish all the students good luck.

Happy Learning.

JEE Advanced to contain short answer type questions

The announcement comes just a day after the JAB said the next IIT-JEE (Advanced) will be conducted online. JEE (Advanced) so far only had MCQs, where the correct answer had to be marked into optical mark reading sheets later evaluated by machines.

“The introduction of a computer-based test will give candidates access to keyboards. So, they will be able to provide correct answers through calculations, if necessary,” said a JAB source. “When the question pattern was multiple-choice, examinees often took refuge in the process of elimination to guess the answer. Now, such opportunities will be limited,” he added.

Since there is no order about framing questions in a particular way, question-setters will be at liberty to introduce a variety of questions that challenge examinees to think harder, and not just rely on techniques or memorization to crack the questions. “Concept-based questions will increase. The question pattern is set to change,” the official explained.

The decision to shift to a computerized testing system had been taken to eliminate printing errors and translation goof-ups that create.

We at Matrix predict that examination would have both MCQ type questions while it may also have short answer type questions. For the short answer type questions, answers would most likely be either ONE WORD ANSWER or in the form of numbers. This is because if the JAB wants to go with subjective questions like board examination, it would be very tough for the JAB to get more than 200,000+ students’ responses checked in a short span.

JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION TO GO ONLINE

Joint Entrance Examination which is the doorway to many significant and prestigious institutes like IITs, NITs, will be conducted online from next year. The decision is taken by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) to evaluate the result in a more logistic and easier way.

The joint admission board (JAB), also announced that it will do away with multiple choice questions (MCQ) and instead opt for short answer type questions.

The whole process of getting admission however remains the same i.e. the students need to get through the JEE Main to appear for the JEE Advance. The government decided to introduce the online exam for the JEE Main, but JAB decided to outspread it to JEE Advance.

Every year approximately 13 Lakhs students appear for the JEE Mains where just 10% of them appear online. But now everyone has to appear at the online system. According to the source, the concept of this online system was prevailing for many years but the implementation took some time, as said by a JAB Member. In addition to this, a JAB Member also stated that this move will create a transparency and avoid leaking of paper too.

The government and the JAB team is working hard to make this event a success. So, they have decided to conduct a training facility for the students before the exam where they will be given a hand on experience over the computer and will also be allowed to give mock tests and assessment to get used to the system. Moreover, the schools will also be instructed to allow students to practice on computers to get a good grip before the examination.

The online system however has various benefits within itself. As mentioned earlier it will create a transparency and avoid leaking of papers. In addition to it, preparing question papers online can help judge the difficulty level from low to medium to high. The online exam will even neutralize the problem of misprinting, which is greatly faced by the students appearing for the offline mode of examination.

A recent incident in 2017 examination where some questions being incorrect was raised by some students. To meet the students’ query the council decided to grant 18 marks bonus to all the students whether they have applied for it or not. So, to cope up from all these unwanted circumstances the council have finally decided to bring in the online system.

All the students need to cooperate with the government and the board because all these are done to create a fair environment for the students. The students need to stay focused on their work and concentrate in their study. The mode of examination should not bother the student. These are part and parcel. Moreover, all the necessary steps will be followed by the government, council and the schools to help the student achieve their goal and to get through this new system smoothly. The students just need to cooperate with them all and give their best to get the best results.

At Matrix JEE Academy, we will take care of the students, their problems and difficulties. The students will be provided with proper guidance and they will secure a good grip over the new system. Various new techniques and methodology will be introduced for the betterment of the students.

Happy Learning

Exams in online mode

In the past few years there have been some significant changes not only in the paper pattern of the various competitive exams such as JEE Advanced but also the mode in which the examinations are conducted. A decade earlier, online examination was not as mainstream as it is now. This has been the result of rapid information technology boost in the past few years in our country. Surprisingly, the student community was the first to acclimatize to this change. This made the online examination more preferable than the offline version for many students.

We believe that online examination definitely has an edge when compared with its offline version. A lot of overheads are reduced not only for the students but also for the conducting authority. Paper correction becomes easy and there is absolutely no chance of errors to creep in. The candidate can evaluate or re-answer any question at any point of time during the examination. The candidate can change the answers during the exam duration which to my mind is the most striking feature of online process. The candidate also has an option to mark any answer for review at a later stage during the examination. A panel on the screen shows all the question numbers in different color scheme which indicates the questions that are answered, left unanswered and marked for review. The only pitfall is that many students from rural background are not accustomed to stare a computer screen for 3 hours straight. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to keep certain things in mind before attempting the exam in online mode.

It’s better to come prepared in every aspect for the examination for which you have prepared so rigorously for the past 1-2 years. Few points that you might want to keep track off-

1. First of all, train yourselves to take the exam on a computer and the best practice is take many demo exams through online mode before the actual examination.
2. Rough sheets are provided separately, so you don’t need to worry about rough space.
3. Try to reach examination center at least 30 minutes before the examination. This is because in some cases the computers can turn out to be faulty.
4. There are buffer computers and IT professionals at the center to deal with such emergencies. Take there help if necessary.
5. Keep track of time while solving the paper.
6. The paper will automatically be submitted and you won’t be able to mark the answers once the time is over. However, you will be given many warnings when the time is about to get over so this is hardly a worry factor.

Now let’s get to some of the myths related to the online examination mode. The most common one being that you need a thorough knowledge of computers to attempt them. Literally speaking, all you need to know is how to use a mouse on a computer to take the examination. The exams are designed in a way that requires minimal computer knowledge. Another myth is that this examination is not secure. The online JEE examination is one of the most secure examinations conducted in our country. So rest assured, no one will be able to access your answers except you. The paper also allows you to see the answers in Hindi. This allows you to have a further level of clarification. Yet another myth is that candidates don’t get question paper for future reference unlike the offline mode. The question paper along with the options marked is mailed to each and every candidate after the exam schedule is over.

Online exam is extremely easy and helpful if you understand all the rules properly and abide by all the instructions. You will face no problems on the technical side during the examination. If you have some other doubts you can always visit the JEE website and clarify them. There is also a call center support facility available for the appearing candidates.
