4 Step process to manage Boards and JEE preparation

4 Step process to efficiently manage Boards and JEE preparation.

Maintaining a stable balance between board exams and JEE preparation is known to be a hefty and tough task. Both exams require different approaches and strategies. Where boards test our actual subject knowledge by asking NCERT based questions majorly, JEE asks for core, conceptual and application-based understanding of the subjects.

Isn’t there any efficient way to manage both the exams for assured success?

Well, this is our 4-step process to manage efficiently between JEE and board examinations.

  • Study the syllabus and pattern first.

As we know that both the exams follow different patterns and syllabus. So, it is important for us to study the pattern and the syllabus first.

For board exams well learned theoretical knowledge is a must and for JEE exam strengthening your core concept and application-based knowledge for both class 11th and 12th syllabus is strictly required. Marking schemes are also a big difference between both of these exams as JEE possesses negative marking but boards don’t. We strongly suggest you to maintain a strong mindset for both the exams that guides you in both the directions efficiently.

Do note that, as per the latest notifications from CBSE and NTA for     reduced and revised syllabus in the exams, students are strongly advised to study only the included topics and don’t waste time and energy on out of the syllabus topics.

  • Strengthen your fundamentals and practice Numerical problems.

Strong fundamentals, clear concept and good numerical solving ability is a proven way to succeed in both boards and JEE examination. Numericals are the ones that steals most marks from a student’s pockets in either of these exams. After getting a hold on fundamentals we suggest you to practice numericals as much as you can because these questions share a common ground in both the exams.

  • Grip strong on Previous years’ question papers and NCERT Textbooks.

When it comes to a good preparation, be it a teacher or be it a exam topper, suggests to thoroughly prepare NCERT and previous years question papers before touching any reference books because these two resources hold the strong bridge between fundamentals and hard questions. We suggest you to strongly prepare and revise NCERT books and previous years questions papers at least 5 to 6 times. This will help you to build the optimum mindset for the exams.

  • Plan, Prepare, Practice and Repeat!

These three words are the known synonyms to success in JEE and Board exams. Planning being the most important will keep you on track and disciplined, especially when you’re preparing for 2 exams simultaneously. A carefully planned timetable will help you a lot in completing your daily decided syllabus timely.

It is always said that “practice is a must”. A strong base of fundamentals requires a hard practice over it. Practice MCQ questions as much as you can for JEE. For Board exams practice writing answers within the specific timeframe, this will help you to score much better marks in final board exams.

CHANGE IN EDUCATION SECTOR POST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

After the Covid-19 pandemic gets over, we all will see a different phase. There will be a lot of changes across the country from shopping to eating and traveling. The education sector has already gone through the coronavirus outbreak. The global pandemic will surely be a sign of the changing times and also human behavior. We will also see a push in the digitalization business, especially in the education sector. All the educational institutes are bringing the best of their online classes to offer students powerful learning experience. The students living in remote areas who lacked education and quality resource access can study through digital online classes.

Have you thought about what will be the necessary changes after the Covid-19 pandemic ends? How will the teaching-learning process work? What will be the major changes will be there in the education sector? To get an answer to all these questions, scroll down and check out the points mentioned below.

Here are some of the essential ways in which you will see some of the drastic changes in the education sector post-COVID-19 pandemic.

–  SOCIAL DISTANCING TO BE FOLLOWED

As all the educational institutes open up after the Covid-19 pandemic, the social distancing rule will change the old ways of taking education. Schools and other coaching institutes might work in shifts to ensure social distancing. Classrooms will follow a strict sanitization process and students will follow all the rules that include their safety.

–  DIFFERENT TRAINING STRATEGIES FOR TEACHERS

All the teachers will be trained for online teaching as well as classroom teaching. This will be done by the school administration to ensure that the teachers are comfortable with the ongoing technologies and will switch between online and offline mode of teaching. The teachers will feel empowered to deliver the perfect lecture than before.

–  COMBINED STUDY- A REALITY

The classrooms after the Covid-19 pandemic is over will be filled with online coursework. The students will be physically attending the class on some days and other days will be free to study at their home. This process of learning will give them sufficient time to gather information.

–  TEACHERS ROLE TO BE REDEFINED

With the information available for the teachers in hand and just a click away, their role will be redefined from a knowledge giver to one of the best facilitators in the school.

–  EFFECTIVE USE OF TECHNOLOGY

Technology will be used effectively to reduce the time spent by the teachers on tasks like paper setting, evaluating the answer sheets, and grading them. If the technology is used wisely, then it can help the teachers to focus more on teaching and course improvement.

–  USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

To personalize the learning experience of the child, schools will be using artificial intelligence. After the pandemic ends, some of the educational institutes have to use technology to offer the best learning experience that is suited to the child. They have to avoid the use of ‘one-size-fits-all’ that is followed in the traditional way of teaching.

The AI approach to learning will help the students to engage in different types of content such as video, audio, and presentations. It will also personalize the way of learning.

–  INTERACTIVE SESSIONS IN CLASSROOMS

Interactivity in physical classrooms will have to be there into the online digital class to keep students engaged in studying. Physical classrooms have a high degree of interactivity among students and teachers. So, the faculties have to bring various innovations to interact with the children during an online क्लास। The interactive sessions will bring the element of collaboration in the e-learning methods.

Among all these ways like social distancing, self-isolation, and online studies, the students are facing somewhat anxiety. The children are unable to get out with their friends, not playing outside is not easy for them. Schools and other educational institutions need to build up and strengthen the student’s connections with their teachers and parents.

To promote digital studies MATRIX JEE Academy also have taken many steps in this way, we have also launched many Online IIT Coaching for 11th passed students and 12th passed students and all are starting from 21st September so why wait, enroll yourself today.

UNDERSTANDING ARITHMETIC MEAN TO ACE THE IIT-JEE EXAM

Arithmetic Mean is the average of a set of data or a collection of numbers. In Mathematics there are different types of means such as arithmetic mean, arithmetic harmonic mean, geometric mean, and geometric harmonic mean.

Mean is called Arithmetic Mean to differentiate it from other types of the mean. The word Arithmetic Mean means good average. Sometimes Mean cannot be used in cases like distribution with open-end classes, highly skewed distribution, and an average taken for ratios and percentages.

The faculties at Matrix Academy, the best IIT-JEE academy in Sikar have explained Arithmetic Mean as the simplest measure of central tendency and it is the ratio of the sum of items to the number of items. It is considered as the best measure of central tendency.

The choice of the average depends upon the distribution of the data and the purpose for which it is used. If a1, a2,……, an are the values of variable “a”.

Different Ways of Calculating Arithmetic Mean

Arithmetic Mean of Ungrouped Data

The most used measure of central tendency is Arithmetic Mean. It is the ratio of aggregate values to the total number of values.

Here is an example by Matrix Academy to explain how we can find the arithmetic mean of ungrouped data-

Question– Calculate the arithmetic mean of the ages of 10 players: 20, 30, 40, 78, 65, 98, 77, 79, 63, 64.

Solution:

Sum of terms = 20 + 30 + 40 + 78 + 65 + 98 + 77 + 79 + 63 + 64 = 614

Number of terms = 10

Arithmetic Mean = 614/10 = 61.4

Therefore, the arithmetic mean of the age of 10 players is 61.4.

Arithmetic Mean of Two Numbers

Let’s consider any two numbers, say a and b. And C be the arithmetic mean between two numbers.

The sequence will be a, C, b in M.C.

C – a= b – C

C = (b + a)/2 = (Sum of the numbers)/(number of terms)

Arithmetic Mean of a Series

There are three different types of series to calculate Arithmetic Mean as listed below-

  • Individual Series
  • Discrete Series
  • Continuous Series

Individual Series

The arithmetic mean for individual series is calculated by summing the values of the observations and dividing the result by the number of observations.

x – arithmetic mean for the sample

n – number of observations

x_i – the ith observation of the characteristic

Discrete Series

Discrete Series is a series created by dividing all observations into groups. Each group represents a specific value of the characteristic. It is only possible when the values are discrete, i.e. they come from a countable set: age in years, points in a test. For each characteristic value identified, the number of its occurrences in the observation test should be provided.

The formula used to calculate the arithmetic mean for a discrete data series:

x – arithmetic mean for the sample

n – number of observations

x_i – ith value of the characteristic

n_i – number of observations for the ith value of the characteristic

Continuous Series

A continuous data series divides all values into groups but somewhat differently than the discrete data series. Each grouping of observations represents not a specific value but a range of values.

The formula is-

x – arithmetic mean for the statistical sample

n – number of observations

n_i – number of observations for the ith interval

x_i – the center of the ith interval

Weighted Arithmetic Mean

Weighted Mean is an average computed by giving different weights to some of the individual values.

The weighted mean for a given set of non-negative data is-

X= x1, x2, …….., xn with non-negative weights, W= w1, w2, ….., wn.

Frequently Asked Questions in JEE exam-

Ques 1- What are the Characteristics of Arithmetic Mean?

Answer- The characteristics of Arithmetic Mean are-

  1. To get a general idea about the whole group.
  2. To represent the whole group and hence summarizes the whole data.
  3. For summarizing data.
  4. For decision-making.

Ques 2- What are the merits and demerits of Arithmetic Mean?

Answer- Advantages of Arithmetic Mean:

  • It is simple to understand.
  • Can be easily calculated.
  • Capable of further algebraic treatment, the result is stable.

Disadvantages:

  • Arithmetic Mean need not coincide with any of the observed values,
  • Not good for ratios and percentages and sometimes give absurd answers.

Ques 3- Is arithmetic mean the same as average?

The arithmetic mean is a good average. But, it cannot be used when:

  • The distribution has open-end classes.
  • The distribution is highly skewed.
  • Averages are taken for ratios and percentages.

The arithmetic mean is the best measure of central tendency that shows the average value of a character in a given statistical sample. It is the most popular measure, vitally important, and applied in virtually every area of life.

THE EFFECT OF NEW EDUCATION POLICY 2020 ON JEE ASPIRANTS.

With a change in name from MHRD to the Ministry of Education, the government has adopted the new education policy in 2020. The new policy declared by the Ministry of education will restructure the school, colleges, and higher education. In schooling, the policy will pull down the barriers between different streams and aims to make students much better for a work ecosystem. In higher education, it will increase the GER to 50% from the current 26% by 2035.

The new policy in 2020 will transform the education system by 2040. Some IITs are working to develop a technical structure of the Academic Credit Bank, which will be established by December, and will be applicable to all the new aspirants.

How will the New Education Policy 2020 affect the JEE aspirants?

The new education policy 2020 will have minimal effect on JEE aspirants. The students have to study all the core subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as they were studying before. All the students appearing for board exams will now test the concepts and application of knowledge. And, the main objective to prepare for JEE is to clear the concepts, thus making it easier to score good marks for the aspirants.

If all your applications are clear before preparing for the JEE exam, then you can easily secure the top rank in the examination without any difficulties. Hence, the change in education policy by the Ministry of Education is a piece of good news for the JEE aspirants.
